Safety Adviser

Our Safety and Risk Team in our Regional business is looking for an experienced Safety Adviser to lead, coordinate and oversee the provision of Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) advice, systems and supply to our regional managers, supervisors and employees, predominately within Travel and Tourism.

This opportunity will suit someone who enjoys developing relationships within the business to actively promote Queensland Rail wide initiatives, support local implementation and cross learning and building a culture focused on safety.

You will travel to our Regional Queensland depots roughly once a month for up to 5 days at a time. This is a great opportunity to develop business relationships whilst conducting workplace audits, observations and inspections. There is a requirement to occasionally work weekends and nights to ensure all stakeholders are met along with business needs.

Leaders and teams will look to you for professional advice regarding the design, implementation, evaluation and continuous improvement of safety management frameworks and plans, inclusive of methodologies, systems, processes and procedures.

Your knowledge and experience will be leveraged to develop effective strategic safety management inputs for integration with the one year and/or five yearly business plans.

You will conduct incident investigations, reviews and analysis of incident reports, and safety statistical data, to support risk-based rectification of safety hazards across the workplace.

In this role, you will also provide specialist knowledge for training or educational programmes relating to any relevant safety issues for employees or management.

Starting salary: $90,000 + superannuation as well as free rail travel to and from work.

We are looking for:

Safety Adviser experience
Relevant Tertiary education - WH&S and/or rail safety are desirable
Any specialist background - hygiene, safeworking etc
Investigation and audit experience
Strong relationship and negotiation skills and experience
