Julalikari Council Aboriginal Corporation (JCAC) is an Aboriginal community service organisation governed by Julalikari Council, an elected body representing the Aboriginal community of Tennant Creek, NT. JCAC’s constitution directs the operations of the organisation with a general strategy to alleviate poverty and improve the well-being of the Aboriginal community of Tennant Creek and the surrounding Barkly region.

About the Opportunity

JCAC now has an exciting leadership opportunity for a Senior WHS Manager to join their team in Tennant Creek, NT. This role is initially being offered on a full-time, 12 month contract, with potential extension after this time.

Reporting to the CEO and working closely with an external advisory consultant and the JCAC Executive Team, your primary responsibility will be to develop, implement and maintain JCAC's WHS management systems to ensure compliance aligned with current WHS standards and relevant WHS Northern Territory legislation and codes.

This role combines both strategic and operational elements and will require the successful candidate to provide a hands-on service across a diverse service area, including construction, landscaping, food handling, aged care, accommodation services and office environments.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

  • Coordinating JCAC's Risk Management Framework, including policies, systems, education and coordination;
  • Developing and coordinating training initiatives across JCAC (in-house and externally run courses);
  • Conducting incident and investigation reporting, including managing Workers Compensation and Public Liability claims; and
  • Developing, implementing and managing WHS systems to support employee and line management accountability to deliver a safer workplace.
