About the role

A fantastic opportunity exists for a self-motivated, collaborative, and focused Health, Safety and Wellbeing Partner to join our high performing team. This is a brand-new role, where you will use your expertise to lead, guide, implement and drive a continuous improvement culture, working on strategy and performance to ensure operational excellence across our business.

We are unique, as we are a vertically integrated business where your expertise and experience will be pivotal to understand each risk profile in detail, to move each site into the next stage of continuous improvement.

Reporting to our Global Head of People and Culture and working between Turrella, and Smithfield, you are motivated to provide training and support to your key stakeholders, ensuring we meet legislative compliance, by implementing initiatives to identify, evaluate, and control workplace hazards and integrate into our Health and Safety Management System.

Your day to day but is not limited to:

  • Develop and implement the KING HSE strategy and safety plan including continuous improvement of WHS systems and policies
  • Engage and lead organisational change to drive a positive safety 1st culture and achieve HSE objectives and targets
  • Critically analyse trends and data, report on metrics and conduct governance activities to support board reporting and senior leadership team initiatives
  • Partnering with a 3rd party supplier, support and provide advice to ensure incidents are identified and target the root cause including corrective actions to minimise further risks
  • Undertake internal audits and/or arrange for 3rd party health and safety audits and complete any corrective actions required
  • Lead and manage onsite WHS training
  • Set up and chair the WHS Committee meetings and provide relevant reporting to Senior Leaders
  • Ensure the WHS Committee is trained and representative of the organisation
  • Provide technical input to HSE planning, HSE risk management and management review processes e.g. dangerous goods, emergency preparedness.
  • Support operational management to ensure that HSE responsibilities of employees (including contractors) are effectively communicated.

About you

Key to your success:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Workplace Safety
  • 3-5 years’ experience working within the retail/manufacturing/warehouse distribution or construction industry with similar safety framework (advantageous)
  • Strong reporting and computer literate using Microsoft Office, ERP or safety applications
  • Extensive knowledge and experience working with WHS systems and thorough understanding of National WHS legislation
  • Experience in conducting operational risk assessments and hazard reporting
  • Internal auditor experience/ Icam investigations or similar
