The Tasmanian Government has announced the State will be hosting the National Road Safety Forum next year following a meeting of Australian Infrastructure and Transport Ministers in Pert last week.

State Minister for Infrastructure, David O’Byrne, said that the forum would focus on key measures aimed at protecting vulnerable road users, such as motorcyclists, cyclists and pedestrians.

"The roads belong to all of us, and it's time our more vulnerable road users had a strong voice at the policy table," Mr O'Byrne said.

"We've lobbied hard to have road safety efforts co-ordinated better at national level.

The Standing Council on Transport and Infrastructure includes Transport, Infrastructure and Planning Ministers from the Commonwealth, States and Territories, New Zealand and the Australian Local Government Association.
