Safe Work Australia has published a new report about reporting safety issues.

The documents explore processes for gathering and communicating work health and safety performance information.

The report, accessible here, is underpinned by four previous reports from the same author on the role of accounting in work health and safety governance.

The Measuring and reporting on work health and safety report provides an evidence based framework for:

  • identifying appropriate WHS key performance indicators
  • designing useful WHS reports, and
  • considering WHS performance data in a way that adds value to business decisions.

The authorities say the report should be used to provide relevant, robust and timely information to inform decisions that influence ongoing business performance.
