The South Australian Government has announced that nominations have opened for this year’s Safe Work Awards.

State Minister for Industrial Relations, John Rau, said nominations for South Australian individuals, businesses and organisations that are leading the way in workplace safety are now being accepted.

“We want to recognise those who are inspiring others through their drive to make South Australian working lives safe, fair and productive,” Mr Rau said.

“You can nominate yourself or someone else whose commitment to work health and safety has helped to keep South Australian workplaces safe for everyone.”

The award categories are:

  1. Best Workplace Health and Safety Management System (public and private sectors)
  2. Best Solution to an Identified Workplace Health and Safety Issue
  3. Best Workplace Health and Safety Practice/s in a Small Business
  4. Best Individual Contribution to Workplace Health and Safety
    1. A worker, such as a health and safety representative
    2. An outstanding contribution by a WHS manager or a person with responsibility for WHS as part of their duties
    3. Health and safety representative of the year

Nominations close on 5 July 2013 and the winners will be announced at a gala dinner on1 November 2013.
