WorkCover Queensland has announced it will be holding a free return to work workshop for the state’s small and medium businesses.

The 30 April workshop will focus on injury management and best practice strategies to help employees reduce claim and premium costs. If you're a small to medium size business with three or more claims a year, this workshop is for you.

“We'll work with you to identify suitable duties, the importance of stay at, or prompt return to work, and how you can use your injury history to identify and avoid risks and thus prevent workplace injuries,” WorkCover said in a statement.

Occupational Therapist Michelle Maclean and Customer Advisor Pablo Aviles will provide practical tips on:

  • functionally appropriate suitable duties
  • identifying risks associated with suitable duties
  • health benefits of recovering at work
  • how to communicate and work with a GP to assist rehabilitation and recovery at work
  • common injury time frames and expectations for a reasonable recovery and return to work.
