The first group of eight finalists have been announced for an award highlighting leadership and initiative in Victorian workplace health and safety.

Assistant Treasurer Gordon Rich-Phillips says “Victoria has the lowest rate of workplace injuries in Australia – including among young workers – and these eight finalists have all demonstrated a commitment to helping Victoria remain the leading Australian state in workplace health and safety.”

The WorkSafe Awards run across twelve categories, from employees who stand out at putting safety first, to Return to Work success stories and clever ideas for wellbeing programs. The first round nominees come from a myriad of industries, each with their own inherent dangers, including; zoos, primary schools, construction and manufacturing.

Anyone who thinks their workplace has an outstanding leader in safety, or an innovative program to prevent mishap and injury, can fill out a form to nominate for the awards. They are open until July 12, to find out more visit the website.
