Nominations for this year’s Comcare Work Health and Safety Awards have been officially opened.

This year’s awards program welcomes nomination’s from relevant industry providers in fields such as rehabilitation and return to work.

The 2013 awards categories are:

  • Category one: Workplace Health and Wellbeing Initiative
  • Category two: Workplace Health and Safety Management System
  • Category three: Solution to an Identified Workplace Health and Safety Hazard
  • Category four: Individual Contribution to Health and Safety
  • An individual
    b) An individual with responsibility for WHS as part of their duties
  • Category five: Health and Safety Representative of the Year
  • Category six: Rehabilitation and Return to Work Management
  • Category seven: Individual Contribution to Rehabilitation and Return to Work
  • Category eight: Claims Manager of the Year

Comcare CEO, Paul O’Connor said he was delighted that the awards now include industry providers who also play an important role in getting injured workers back to work.

“I encourage as many nominations as possible for these awards which recognise excellence in workplace health and safety, rehabilitation and return to work achieved by individuals and organisations covered by the Comcare scheme.

“The awards highlight these contributions and how important they are in keeping employees safe, both physically and mentally at work,” Mr O’Connor said.

The awards will be presented at a dinner at Parliament House in Canberra on Wednesday 18 September 2013 as part of the Comcare National Conference.
